You gotta have friends

Hi guys, I hope you've had a good week and are now kicking back and doing something you enjoy this weekend. Well, we are on the THREE WEEK countdown to our relocation to the UK.

Am I packed? No.

Do we have a removal company yet? No.

Have I had my garage sale yet? No.

Have I checked out the kennels for the dog? No.

Ok, so I still have stuff to do...I'm working on it!

I'm now starting to think about what it's going to be like not living here any more. I drive down streets and think; "I may never drive down this street again" (I've always been a little dramatic) When we left England we knew it was always going to be home, so there was never the question that we might not return. But Canada is a long way away and I am aware that when life is happening we don't always get the opportunities to go back. The thing I'm most sad about leaving is our friends. My friends, the kids friends, it's going to be tough. Eva and Max were 2 and a half and 4 when we came here, so the friends they have here have been their friends for most of their lives. Jess didn't want to come to Canada; I still have memories of a gang of 13 year old girls crying hysterically and chasing our car up the road - not wanting her to leave! Now she is older, she is excited about the new opportunities that await her, but sad about the people she will leave behind. And Chris and I have made some great friends who we will always be grateful to for making us feel so welcome.

But I also have a new group of friends who I am packing up and taking with me; I'll take them with me on the flight, put them in the car at the other end and then introduce them to my new home. You lovely ladies!

I have met some fabulous girlies since I started this journey in February and I look forward to developing those friendships over the months and years even if I am moving continent! On this note; I was happily surprised to find that I had received 2 blog awards this week. My first! So, "Thank you" to Design it Chic and Robbie S Redmond @ A Spiritual Connection who gave me this award this is how it works;

The "Love Ya" Award states:These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

The ladies listed here have made me feel so welcome to the blogging world, I wanted to say "Thanks" and ask that you stop by and leave them a comment - you'll be glad you did!

Happy Sunday x

OMG!! Thank you so much for the award! I will promise to live up to it always!

I'm so very much in awe of your ability to move ... I wish I could make moves like that -- not just physical moves but in my career (as in starting one) and other aspects of life ... I acknowledge the sadness and fear of the unknown and that keeps me stuck right where I am ...

Your awesomeness knows no bounds ... neither does your great blog ... Thanks again and here's to a long and wonderful friendship!

Let me go post about my award now!

you little stinker!:) thank you so much for the lovely honor! you see, it's also my first! i'm so thankful you thought of me.

it's true, what they say, "when one door closes...a huge world, full of blessings, opens wide." okay, they don't say it, i do.

i know leaving can be sad; but the friendships you've made and the memories of cherished times will always be in your heart. i pray this new page in your life journey brings new joys to you and your lovely family.

Thank you so much for the award, B! I apologize that it has taken me so long to write this, but I finally did. I followed the "Love ya!" award directives, linking back to you, of course, and linked to eight more people who definitely deserve this award.

Here's my post!

Ok, so I'm a dork. I hit publish before finishing my comment.

I so know what you mean about moving away. Being a military family, we have done this so many times. It's gets more and more difficult each and every time, too.

Way to be prepared, by the way! LOL :oP

It is, however, easier to keep your friendships going than it used to be, due to the internet.

I'm so glad that you'll be packing us up and taking us with you. I'm certain we would all love to follow your journey back home.

Thank you, once again. You are one of the sweetest people I know, B! :o)

I feel so honored to be included in your award. Thank you so so much!! I can't wait to repost it.

Wow...to think that you are leaving Canada in three weeks. Wow! It's weird bc I was sitting here thinking, it must feel crazy to move to another country and to think of all that must be done in order to go. Then I sort of reminded myself that I did do that. Only I didn't go across the seas. I hope these next coming weeks are good for you. That you accomplish what needs to get done and you find joy in the journey. If I lived nearby, I'd love to help ya pack!!

Just found your blog today! I hope you'll keep it going once you are back in the UK! That would be very interesting for those of us back here in North America! :)

Better get packing, though...three weeks will go by quickly! :)

Take care!

Happy moving! Yikes, I'm so horrible at moving, but I generally just move within the same city. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to move cross-country! Wow. I wish you so much luck in the moving process, I hope it all goes well. I'm stopping by from SITS this morning - you were the roll caller in front of me (in the top 10!). :)
