Kitchen changes

Hello All,

It's been a busy week. Mum came to visit. Max had his birthday; my little boy is now 9 years old.

I've been busy with 'housey stuff'. The kitchen has had a bit of a switch up. I decided to take the colour out of my kitchen and go for a cleaner palette. This is the old look...

And here it is post shuffle...

I think this looks more cohesive and it makes me happier :O)

I *LOVE* my new veggie prints. If you'd like some of your own, hop on over and visit Cathe at Just Something I Made she is fab and has lots of gorgeous stuff for you to print for FREE!

This weekend is a Bank Holiday in England and then the kids are at home for a week. We hope to visit Butterfly World while they're at home, I'll be sure to take my camera - should be fun!

Have a great weekend, where ever you are and whatever you're doing.

Desk before and after

I love a 'before and after' don't you? However, usually I am so disorganised (and eager to get started) that I don't stop to take the before shot! But not this time...

This is our ugly old desk...

It has been in our family for about 10 years (but it looks a LOT older than that!) It was Jessica's for a long time and during that time she spilled hair serum on it. Then the 2 younger kids had it, (when I clearly wasn't paying too much attention to what was going on in my house!) and they wrecked it with pens and anything else they could get their hands on! It lost a few knobs too...

So finally I decided, it needed to be shaped up or shipped out; I went for the former....

I absolutely love it! I distressed it; I figured it'll stop me getting stressy when it gets chipped up by the kids! We still have 2 knobs missing and if I can't find similar I may go for changing them all for something else, porcelain maybe? It brightens up my hallway/nook at the bottom of the stairs and gives the kids somewhere to do their homework. Oh, and you may recognise the chair from here don't they look cute together!?

Hope you're all having a great week,

Dreaming of...

I can't get this little beauty out of my mind at the moment.... Isn't she just adorable? She's available at Liberty and has 2 equally beautiful sisters in different Liberty designs...so dreamy...

Something else I've been dreaming about over the past year or so is having my own shop. Now, I can't stretch to a bricks and mortar one just yet, but I'll soon be off the ground, with my new FOLKSY store; Little Bee.

For those of you who don't know, FOLKSY is the UK's version of ETSY (It made sense to start up in my own country to begin with) which sells handmade treasures on line. I should be good to go by the weekend...I'll let you all know.

And these are to be part of my summer stock...

Pretty cotton napkins for your summer picnics...if the sun ever comes out...ahhh...

...we can but dream!

Spring has sprung!

At last, we've finally had some weather to smile about - although it's been a little changeable.

So, I went out into the garden to take some pics of our beautiful blossoms...

Considering the fact that our house is called "Pear Tree Cottage" you'd probably assume that our garden houses at least one pear tree...wrong!

In fact our garden has no pears trees at all. This is because many years ago part of our garden was sold off as a separate plot of land and another house was built there and that house is called "The Orchard" due to the fact that they got all the pear trees!

However, we do still have a fabulous apple tree - hence the blossom. I'm so looking forward to making some yummy apple pies this year.

This week I'm making some super hero capes for some birthday boys and getting myself ready for some serious sewing for the summer markets.

I can also feel a furniture makeover coming on...

Wishing you a 'blooming' lovely week!

I *heart* signage!

Hello my lovelies...

I'm trying to finish off my kitchen at the moment. We kept the cabinets, but changed the knobs, changed the tiles and painted over the TARTAN WALLPAPER - but I often find that the finishing touches can be the most difficult! What is my style? One thing I noticed the other day on looking around my kitchen is how much I like fonts and signage...

...I just love Nigella, she is the queen of the kitchen...

...a coincidence and little known fact...my maiden name is Lawson, so I just had to have this crate that I found in a local antique shop. Lavender bird made by yours truly and available on request!

I picked up this french mustard jar at another local antique shop, I often use it to display flowers. And I have wanted one of these little salt thingies for ages, I'll let you into a secret though, it's never had salt in it - I always forget it's there!

I'd been on the lookout for a bread bin for ages and found this at my local TK MAXX for 7 pounds. I wasn't sure about it and went away to consider, I forgot all about it and returned 2 weeks later to find it reduced to 4 pounds- It was a done deal!

And I recently added this little beauty to my collection...

I've yet to hang it, but I love it. It's limited edition print from a fab website called Rockett St George

It won't mean much to my anyone who's not from the UK I'm afraid, but these are all catchphrases from famous British comedians from my childhood. It's nostalgic and fun - just my cup of tea!

Will be popping back with more pictures of my kitchen soon.

Love to you all,

B x
