Easter in Cape Verde...

Shhhh. Can you hear that? Beautiful isn't it? That, my friends, is the sound of silence. The sound of kids back to school. Which didn't happen until yesterday and kind of had me hanging on for dear life by my fingernails. But I made it. And so did they. And now, we are back to normal - and I am enjoying the silence.

So, I thought I'd take the time to fill you in on our trip to Cape Verde. As you can imagine I have TONS of photos, but I am going to try and restrain myself and not bore you to tears! I think I will follow the theme I started with and just keep quiet and let the pics do the talking...

Fun in the sun...

Out and about...

I found Cape Verde to be a beautiful place, poor, but richer for it's wonderful, happy, friendly people. It was lovely to have some time away, we came back totally rested and the kids made some lovely friends. The only mishap was on our last day, when a little boy dropped a plate on my foot. I ended up with a couple of stitches, but I found that a couple of Caiparinhas (Brazilian cocktails) sorted me out and dealt with the pain! It was a small price to pay for a wonderful holiday.

Back here in the UK it seems like the rain will never stop, but after my lovely break, donning my raincoat and my wellies to do the school-run doesn't feel so bad...

Easter colours...everywhere.

So I'm off to Cape Verde tomorrow. You'll all be pleased to know, I did knuckle down... a bit. There will be slightly less of me to wobble by the pool...slightly...! I won't be taking my big camera with me (and I can't find my smaller one) so any pics I manage to get will be from my iPhone

It'll be me Chris and the 2 little ones having one week of down time - Jess is staying behind to study for her upcoming exams; such a good girl. I hope you all have a peaceful Easter break with the ones you love.

Missing you...but having fun!

I know, its been an awfully long time. I hope you have had a lovely couple of months. I have been enjoying the summer; painting furniture, sorting the barn out and celebrating my sisters' 30th birthday with a night in London and a trip with 'The Girls' to Marbella, Spain. Just wanted you to know that all is well and that now the kids are back at school, I will be back to some kind of 'normal"! See you soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from....Dubai!

Hello dear friends, I  just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year from the sunny shores of Dubai.

Spot on Vanya! And thank you all for playing along :O)

I've been having trouble with Blogger while I've been here, so I'll try to keep this short and sweet.

Wishing you all the very best for 2011

The year that I turn 40.

I declare 2011 to be 'The year to feed my soul'. Classes, travelling, books- whatever takes my fancy.

It's my time to discover me.

What are your plans for 2011?

Hugs,

Wish you were here...

We've swapped the snow at home for sun and we're having so much fun! Unfortunately, we had to leave Jess at home, studying as she has an exam next week. Sorry Jess, take good care of yourself and Cookie and we'll bring you home a pressie!

More sunny pics to come, but how about a little teaser...I wonder if anyone can guess where we are?

1st clue: It took 7 hours to fly here from Heathrow.

Hugs,

B x
p.s despite the long nails, this picture is of Max and his amazing 'find' this morning. Note to self; must get the clippers out...

Good old Blighty!

We're back! We had a wonderful week in Cornwall *although no mobile or internet was a killer I can tell ya! I'll be looking forward to catching up with what all you guys have been up to over the next couple of days. In the meantime, let me show you around our temporary home...

This was the main house, which is used as a Bed and Breakfast.

To the right of this picture is the coach house also known as 'Sunday Cottage', which was were we stayed.
Let's take a look inside shall we?

Fancy some fresh air? Me too - lets take a walk in the garden...

Oh, this is Maisie...she is one of 4 pugs who will happily show you around the place!

What a butt shot!
Even I took a little swing in the afternoon sun...

Well, after that photo overload I'm off for a cup of tea. Pop back soon won't you?
We're planning a walk through the village, down to the sea...

Cheerio!

Hoping for blue skies...

Well, Jess has been gone for a week and I've spoken to her and she's having a lovely time catching up with her old friends soaking up the Canadian sun.

Lucky her. We in the UK, on the other hand, are left with unpredictable, drizzly skies. Where has the sun gone? I really hope it comes back soon, as we're off to Cornwall tomorrow - yipee! We will be staying at "Sunday Cottage" which is a coach house attached to a larger country home. We are so excited to have our first UK holiday now that the children are old enough to really enjoy our little road trip. And we can even bring Cookie the dog with us to enjoy the fun!

My camera will be coming too so you can enjoy the trip with us - don't forget your sun screen!

Memories of Greece...

We didn't have much when I was growing up. Mum was a single parent and times were hard. However one of my best memories is of a holiday we took in Wales. It was me, my Mum, my baby sister, my Nan and and my great Grandma. I was about 5. We were all cramped into this tiny caravan which was parked in a field. Sometimes, it rained. But I would welcome every new day on that holiday, as every morning when the sun was coming up I would look out over the field and there would be not one, not two or three, but a GAZILLION bunny rabbits chomping on the grass all around us! It was such an amazing sight and one I shall never forget and to this day reminds me that all the money in the world can't buy happiness and beautiful memories.

Our holiday this year on the Greek island of Rhodes was an unqualified success. You know how sometimes you go on holiday and the expectaion is so high that the holiday almost can't live up to the dream? (Or is that just me?!) Well not this time!

The villa was ok, but just ok. We had a pool and that was all we needed. The kids are that bit older, and we all worked together to make the most of what we had, it was a joy.

No crying about sand in their shoes or having to put them down for naps.

We taught them how to play blackjack and Eva learned how to swim.

We even had our own 'holiday pet' the kids named her "Ursula" and she brought her 3 babies every day to say hello.

We went on a road trip all around the island,

which took us up into the mountains where we had a beautiful view of the other Greek islands just as the sun was going down.

And 'Babe' even let me use the perfect backdrop to take his picture!

It was so lovely to see my family relaxed and getting on so well; there was A LOT of laughter!

Actually I feel a little bad as I often didn't take my camera and missed many great photo opportunities, but sometimes you just have to put the camera down and live the life, before it passes you by; you know?

So, here's to a fabulous weekend my friends, making beautiful memories.
